Business is busyness

I got to thinking that the thing we lack most of all in our lives nowadays is quiet time with ourselves….to just BE. With all the modern technology we have, we have lost that vital aspect in our lives – TO NOT DO! We are so busy doing and thinking with gadgets in our hands day and night. We forget that they have an OFF button and moreover, WE ALLOW them to take our power away, rendering us zombies, full of FOMO and fear of disconnection or Heaven forbid ALONENESS.

Do we think so little of ourselves that we are terrified to be left alone with ourselves? :-)

How about putting down the smartphone, switching off the iPad, laptop and TV and just being. Become fully present. Notice your breathing, allow any intrusive thoughts to flow in and out of you effortlessly. If you can, sit in the garden and just notice the sights and sounds of nature. Reconnect…don’t do…JUST BE!

"AWARENESS in 60 minutes talk"

People, I have heard your request for a talk summarizing the main themes in living a happier, more meaningful life. I am proud to present "AWARENESS in 60 minutes talk". I will be giving these talks in Johannesburg and Cape Town and in various places across the world. I am also happy to talk privately for small or large groups at a venue of your choice. The time to really live in NOW - delaying results in unnecessary difficulties and living aware brings meaning and more joy. With the way in which the world in today, so intense and desperate, the workd of Thoreau resound louder in my mind than ever before...

"I went to the wood because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived"
Henry David Thoreau

Giving up VS surrendering

When life hands you a whole lot of lemons and you can’t find the lemonade recipe…..

Many people think that these two concepts are synonymous, but in fact there is the world of difference between them.  Literally, the former keeps you trapped in this physical world and the latter opens you up to unlimited possibilities for good.

When we give up, we disengage from life, we detach from our outer world and shut down parts of ourselves (or all) and resign to the fact that nothing can change. And therefore nothing does change. If this persists, depression is imminent. At best, after a while, the initial intensity of the feelings starts to subside and we join life for yet another round…wounded and usually none the wiser.

Surrender on the other hand is about engaging with life more than before, opening yourself up to more possibilities. It’s about reminding yourself that you are part of a much bigger reality than just what you can see with your eyes. It’s the realization that you are part of a limitless universe filled with endless possibilities beyond human conception. Angelic realms and soul worlds and dimensions above space, time and natural laws. A place where your Higher self that knows exactly why you were created and why things are happening as they are resides (your GPS). And all this (and us) is connected to a Creator force (All that is) which is the source of everything. Just because you can’t SEE it all doesn’t mean it isn’t there. You can’t see electricity flowing through live wires…but you know it’s there.

The truth is that you are never alone and you never will be. To surrender is easier than many think but it’s foreign and therefore requires practice at first. All you need is an intention to connect with the higher world and gain assistance and guidance. All you have to do is ask. In your mind, out aloud, in writing. It’s just the energy of intention and asking that creates the connection that opens you up to receive. It launches the highest speed internet cable imaginable to the unlimited world of answers, guidance and assistance. It opens you up to all the universe has to offer. It allows for positive change.

What do you have to lose - giving up has no benefits! Take all the help you can get- this ain’t an easy place to live sometimes!

Fears that arise in intimate relationships

More recently in my work I have repeatedly been reminded about the effects of unresolved and unconscious fears from childhood that cause recurring difficulties in intimate adult relationships.

The good news is that through conscious awareness (as is the aim of this piece) and with a desire for change and the help of interventions, resolution can take place resulting in healthy, intimate relating.

Two primal fears that arise in one’s early years of life, that if left unattended to, (unconsciously) negatively affect adult relationships:

- The fear of being abandoned (losing the other)
- The fear of being engulfed (losing oneself)

These fears arise in all of us at some time or another, but when they become so overwhelming that they affect our functioning they become problematic and cause havoc in relationships. Usually one fear predominates in intimate relationships.

Healthy adult relating is the capacity to commit ourselves to another without becoming terrified of being abandoned if they pull away or by the fear of being engulfed if they get too close.

What should be remembered is that the fear that one feels in a relationship is not just about that partner and that experience. It is in fact a re-enactment of very deep, longstanding, early let down that has never been acknowledged and healed. It seems that until one does so, they continue to attract people who re-enact this dynamic. The names and faces change, but it’s not before long that the dynamics are exactly the same as before.

Since the origin is our wounded inner child, the discomfort, fear and pain is irrational and may resemble overwhelming discomfort or dread- as was once a reality when we were completely dependent on another.

Ways that the fears play out in adult relating:

Sometimes we find ourselves in relationships that re-enact one or both of these fears and other times we find ourselves in relationships that allay these fears.

When a fear is stimulated we get an opportunity to resolve it or we become more engrained in it and continue to repeat it.

The truth is that an adult cannot be abandoned- only left, and cannot be engulfed- only crowded. A mature adult will communicate these feelings to their partner and find respectful ways to alleviate them. But until the terrified inner child is acknowledged and healed enough it runs the show and acts irrationally.

“You know a relationship matters to you in a healthy way when you are willing to act over the awkwardness of the small but scary steps that lead to change.” Richo

The opportunity that life gives us is the choice to expand ourselves…or not. Expansion leads to growth as a person, in relationships and ultimately more joy. Consciously why would we live any other way?????

Where in the world are we? And what in the world can we expect in the coming months?

Background check

As we all know, everything in the world has a cycle; the moon, the seasons, birthdays, the tides etc. Similarly, the years also have cycles.

According to numerology (the ancient study of numbers), we can look at the numerical number of the year we are in and determine the themes that will be strongest during that year. There are nine numbers in our number system (all numbers are made up of 1-9) and the cycle repeats itself every nine years. Numerology has found that each number has specific attributes or themes. Furthermore, since we live in a world of contrast there are positive and negative themes of each number. Since we are active participants in our reality with free choice, we can, through awareness, choose to identify with the positive or empowered states of the numbers and invite those influences into our lives. We can also transform negative influences into positive through intention and action.

Where we are now

We are currently in 2012. This means that we are in a 5 year (2+0+1+2=5). The diagram below shows how the influence of the 5-year began last July (2011) and reached 100% this month. So we are now under the strongest influence of the 5.  As we move away from this July, the influence of the 5 begins to wane and the 6 (2013) slowly starts to influence our world. The strength of the 5 will continue to be felt until the influence of the 6 begins to take over after January 2013.

The positive themes of 5 include; adventure, reinvention (of self), living our truth, finding new ways of doing things, new ways of thinking about old things, questioning, rebel, maverick, movement (travel, career, home, place etc.), change, jumping out of the box, freedom.

If we were to summarize the number five in one word it would be ‘CHANGE’.

Now, if one is unaware of the influences of the 5, or is in a negative space, the following negative themes of the 5 may be experienced; chaos, confusion, anxiety, mental anguish, unfocused, deception, restlessness, ungrounded, impulsive.

Perhaps this explains what has been going on in our lives and in the world in general and is still doing so. Ultimately, it’s your choice- you can identify more with the + or the – states. Like I often say, “ Awareness brings choice, choice brings power, power propels change, change brings JOY”

Everyday brings opportunities for change…. choose joy. Focus on what’s right not on what’s wrong. Remember, whatever you focus on, you get more of!

From the creator of The Secret, Ronda Byrne

From The Secret Daily Teachings,

When you close your eyes and you visualize having money and imagine doing all the things you want with that money, you are creating a new reality.

Your subconscious mind and the law of attraction do not know whether you are imagining something or whether it is real. And so when you imagine, the law of attraction receives those thoughts and images as though you were actually living them, and it must return those visions to you.

When you are in the place where what you are imagining feels real, you will know that it has penetrated your subconscious mind, and the law of attraction must deliver it.

May the joy be with you,

Gratitude- The simplest way of multiplying good!

The universal Law of Attraction is familiar to most people these days. Religions, Quantum Physics, Meta-physics and ancient mystical practices have all spoken of this law in some way or other. This is a tried and tested age-old law that is ALWAYS at work, weather you believe in it or not.

The law speaks about the mechanism of ‘like energy attracts like energy’.  And since we are beings with thoughts, feelings and behaviours (which are all forms of energy), whatever we give our attention to creates specific waves of energy that we send out into our environment. Therefore, if we apply our lives and this law to gratitude, whatever we think about and feel grateful for, attracts more of that to us. That’s why ‘”the better it gets, the better it gets and the worse it gets, the worse it gets”-Esther/Abraham Hicks.

You have heard many times, I’m sure, people saying things like, “you get what you give” or “what goes around comes around”. Well these types of sayings are all describing the Universal Law of Attraction. Even Sir Isaac Newton discovered this law and described it in his laws of motion, which state: Every action has an opposite and equal action or reaction. Therefore, if you give thanks for something, you will cause the opposite reaction of receiving more of that thing.  It’s kind of like a boomerang. And the more intensely you give thanks to something, the greater the amount of that thing you will receive back.  Unfortunately this takes place in the negative as well, which is the reason why we all need to be aware of what we are giving our attention to.

In a nutshell, if we consciously become more grateful for the good in our lives, the more good we will attract. It’s Law! No matter how big or small the thing we are grateful for is, if we connect to that positive experience, we are launching rockets of positivity into our environment which will in turn attract more of that thing.

Many people have manifested great lives from writing a gratitude journal. I quite like the simple yet effective basic exercise in the book The Magic by Rhonda Byrne as set our below:

It is best to do this exercise in the morning, so that it sets a positive cycle for your day, but you can also do it any other time of the day.

You can do the exercise in a book or journal, or type it out on your computer.

1. List ten things that you are grateful for and say why every day. It doesn’t matter how big or small those things are- it is the positive energy of that thing you want to connect with.

You can start your statements with something like:
“I am so grateful that…..” and say why….
or “I am truly blessed…….” and say why…..
or I am so happy and grateful…..” and say why.

Here are a couple of examples:
“I am so grateful for the car that I have because it takes me to wherever I ant to go”.
“I am so grateful for X in my life who makes me feel so loved”.
“I am so happy and grateful for the holiday I have booked so that I can relax and energize myself and have fun”.
“I am so grateful for the money I received today that allows me to buy the things I want and need”.
“I am so grateful for the money I have to pay for this delicious meal”.
It doesn’t matter if you repeat things on different days, remember, it’s the vibration you want to connect to that will bring more of that thing.

2. After you have recorded ten statements, read through them and say thank you thank you thank you (three times) and feel the gratitude for as much as you can.

3. Make your list of ten things every day. Later on, if you find that your day is going into  a negative spin, think of or write more things to be grateful for. Look around you and you’ll find many things. This will put your day back into a positive spin so that you can attract more goodness.

Here are some subjects to help you think of things to be grateful for:

Health  & Wellness
Work and success
Money
Relationships
Happiness
Love
Life
Nature
Weather
Material goods
Services
Any other subject

Adapted from The Magic

Create the life you say you want. Take any amount of things that are good and use gratitude to grow more of them. It’s law!

Happy JOY creating.
